It's the little things in life..... So happy to say "I will be attending IMATS L.A. in January 2013" !!! Looking forward to seeing all of my makeup peeps at the show again.

Heading for a crazy busy weekend. Starting off Saturday, September 29th with a 6am makeup application for corporate head shots followed by a tattoo cover and 7 person bridal party at UNF Jacksonville beginning at 8:30am. Then it's off to St. Augustine for a 4 person bridal party from 2pm with touch-ups at 6:30pm. Sunday, September 30th begins with makeup at 9am for actress Annie for her theater promo shots (I just adore my repeat clients) then heading to Palm Coast for another 6 person wedding makeup application. ......Just breathe....  

Now that Autumn is here, many of us want to maintain the reminder of summer and keep our tans looking bronze all Winter long. But what does one do when a self tanning episode goes awry?   Here is a quick way to fix a streaky tan.   Soak a cotton ball in lemon juice, be sure it's 100% lemon juice and not a mixture.  Swipe the cotton ball over any overly orange areas. Lemons contain Citric Acid which is a natural lightener. The Citric Acid will also act as an exfoliator and help remove the skin cells and brighten the area.   No lemon juice on hand? Use baking soda and a bit of water to create another natural exfoliator. Use gentle, circular motions to slough off skin cells.   For a gradual tanning experience, mix your self-tanner with your daily moisturizer (equal parts) blending well before applying. The result will be a more subtle, natural tan.

I can't stress enough how important it is to book your makeup artist well in advance. I'm talking at least 6 months or more. I've had to turn away many disappointed brides who waited until only a few months, weeks or even a day before their big event. I do not have a "team" of artists, so I can only book a minimum number of clients in any given month.  Fall months such as September and October plus the Spring months; April and May, seem to be increasingly popular. I can't begin to count how many disappointed brides I've had to turn away who waited too long to book my makeup services. My advice to you is no matter the date or occasion, be sure to lock in your event date with a signed agreement and retainer as soon as you have decided on your makeup artist. Keep some drinking straws handy. Using a drinking straw can help minimize any chance of potential spoiling of your makeup or lip color until your ceremony begins. Be sure to eat and remember to brush your teeth prior to your time in the makeup chair. There's nothing worse than realizing you forgot to brush your teeth after being all glammed up and ready to go. Fall is definitely a time for change. This season's top color contenders are showing up in greys, blues and silvers. Here are a few of my favorites. Opposites attract and these two shadows from Yaby Cosmetics are the perfect combination. Although the colors are quite complimentary, the names are definitely at opposite ends of the spectrum..........Sunny Ocean and Storm Cloud. How to choose between airbrush makeup and traditional (hand-applied) makeup There is a lot of hype about airbrush makeup. Having 20+ years of experience in applying makeup, and working with new and improved cosmetic products and the latest tools, let me provide you with my understanding of both airbrush and traditional makeup applications.
