Self Tanner Gone Wrong?

Now that Autumn is here, many of us want to maintain the reminder of summer and keep our tans looking bronze all Winter long. But what does one do when a self tanning episode goes awry?

Here is a quick way to fix a streaky tan.

Soak a cotton ball in lemon juice, be sure it's 100% lemon juice and not a mixture.  Swipe the cotton ball over any overly orange areas. Lemons contain Citric Acid which is a natural lightener. The Citric Acid will also act as an exfoliator and help remove the skin cells and brighten the area.

No lemon juice on hand? Use baking soda and a bit of water to create another natural exfoliator. Use gentle, circular motions to slough off skin cells.

For a gradual tanning experience, mix your self-tanner with your daily moisturizer (equal parts) blending well before applying. The result will be a more subtle, natural tan.

Make Up for the DIY (Do It Yourself) Bride

If you're a "Do It Yourself" kind of girl, I may venture to guess that your wedding is no exception. Whether for financial reasons or just the hesitation of letting go, you may decide to take wedding day beauty into your own hands. Here is where I can help. Let me give you a few insights into creating a picture perfect bridal photo. There's nothing wrong with doing it yourself, if you're well-informed and excellent at applying your own makeup. I've been doing makeup for well over 20 years and even still I would never attempt to do my own makeup for my wedding day. But to those who are more adventurous, I will provide you with a few important tips. Flawless makeup begins with flawless skin. Get routine facials, wear sunscreen, avoid harmful tanning, drink lots of water, watch what you eat and take care of your skin. We can always make our skin darker with bronzers and spray-on tans but once you damage your skin with UV rays, there's no way i...

Red Apple Lipstick

I recently received the cutest makeup package in the mail. It was from Red Apple Lipstick . The items were wrapped in “apple” green tissue paper and placed inside a small burlap-style drawstring pouch. The products included full-size versions of a lipstick, lip gloss, lip liner pencil and a sample lipstick with disposable lip brush. I grabbed the lip pencil first. This was the R-evolution lip liner and the color was Nude. Just as the name implies, it’s the perfect shade to create a neutral lip. The pencil went on creamy, without tugging or stretching the lips and the color stayed true to form. With a matte finish, it creates the perfect daytime finish. Next, was the full-size lipstick in New York, a brown based nude with orange undertones that blended superbly with the Nude pencil. I really liked the consistency of the lipstick and the smooth results it provided. It has no shimmer and is an ideal choice for the workplace. It’s a fantastic color option for day or night. The lip gloss wa...
