Yaby Cosmetics

Well, I'm back from the Makeup Show in Chicago. What an amazing event! I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Liz, creator of Yaby Cosmetics. Makeup products designed by a makeup artist for makeup artists. Designed for film and photography, the highly pigmented Yaby cosmetics are made for easy travel and perfect for on location.

As a solution for make artists in all sectors of the industry, Yaby carries palettes that provide convenience and are highly customizable. Each palette features a built in stainless steel mixing palette, magnetic base, shock absorbing foam inserts with easy to clean surface, as well as the highly in demand freestyle palette.

With a wide range of colors, Yaby eliminates the need for numerous, bulky packaging. It's the perfect way for an artist to condense his/her makeup kit.

The eye shadow palette holds 40 highly pigmented shadows that can be applied sheer yet allow for buildable coverage. You can purchase pre-selected palettes, or pick and choose the colors you want. The magnetic base makes for quick and easy color changes.

The freestyle palette is perfect for those working on multi-day projects with the same clients. Select their personalized colors and place blush, powder, shadows, lip color, concealers, etc. in the custom freestyle palette. Stick on a label with the client's name and viola! You have your client's products ready for each day of the shoot. No need to try to remember what colors where used or trying to stuff it all in a Ziploc bag.

I personally adore the powder foundations, but am slowly falling in love with the liquid ones. Two drops, and you've got enough for a full face. Amazing stuff!

Check out Yaby at IMATS in L.A. June 25th and 26th!!

Make Up for the DIY (Do It Yourself) Bride

If you're a "Do It Yourself" kind of girl, I may venture to guess that your wedding is no exception. Whether for financial reasons or just the hesitation of letting go, you may decide to take wedding day beauty into your own hands. Here is where I can help. Let me give you a few insights into creating a picture perfect bridal photo. There's nothing wrong with doing it yourself, if you're well-informed and excellent at applying your own makeup. I've been doing makeup for well over 20 years and even still I would never attempt to do my own makeup for my wedding day. But to those who are more adventurous, I will provide you with a few important tips. Flawless makeup begins with flawless skin. Get routine facials, wear sunscreen, avoid harmful tanning, drink lots of water, watch what you eat and take care of your skin. We can always make our skin darker with bronzers and spray-on tans but once you damage your skin with UV rays, there's no way i...

Red Apple Lipstick

I recently received the cutest makeup package in the mail. It was from Red Apple Lipstick . The items were wrapped in “apple” green tissue paper and placed inside a small burlap-style drawstring pouch. The products included full-size versions of a lipstick, lip gloss, lip liner pencil and a sample lipstick with disposable lip brush. I grabbed the lip pencil first. This was the R-evolution lip liner and the color was Nude. Just as the name implies, it’s the perfect shade to create a neutral lip. The pencil went on creamy, without tugging or stretching the lips and the color stayed true to form. With a matte finish, it creates the perfect daytime finish. Next, was the full-size lipstick in New York, a brown based nude with orange undertones that blended superbly with the Nude pencil. I really liked the consistency of the lipstick and the smooth results it provided. It has no shimmer and is an ideal choice for the workplace. It’s a fantastic color option for day or night. The lip gloss wa...

Planning a Destination Wedding

Destination weddings have become increasingly more common. With a touch of added romance, zesty adventure and of course the sultry GETAWAY, a destination wedding can be just that little special touch you're looking for. Planning and organizing a wedding in another city, state or country can be overwhelming and downright nerve-wracking. Trusting wedding professionals is scary enough, but depending on those not within reach can be quite intimidating.  As quoted from theKnot.com in their Destination Wedding Basics: Top 13 Destination Wedding Tips, the Knot highly suggests  to "Bring pros you trust from home to handle critical aspects such as the wedding photography, hair and makeup, and design (lighting, flowers)." There are so many things that can go wrong; no-show vendors, inferior skills, misunderstandings due to a language barrier, makeup artists not familiar with your skin type, strange and unregulated cosmetic products, and of course, fear of the unk...
