Brides on a Budget

With today's economy in such a turmoil, brides are looking for ways to save as much as possible on their wedding expenses.

Here are some of my makeup options for the austere Bride:

*Please note all listed items apply to services received in the makeup studio only.  If on location makeup services are requested, they will require a minimum dollar amount depending upon location.

  • Captivating Eyes - If you want your groom to look deep into your eyes during the ceremony, then opt for this service.  Your eyes will be the primary focus and we'll create a look, whether sultry or demure, that will dazzle and inspire him to never take his eyes off of you!  Includes eyeshadow base and primer, eyeshadow colors, mascara, brow shaping/color and false eyelashes if desired.  ~ $35

  • Pucker Up - Pouty lips aside, we'll make your pucker delightfully delectable and pleasantly kissable.  Heads up, your first kiss may last well into the reception.  Service includes lip prep, waterproof liner, lip color/stain, gloss and a color lock sealant.  ~ $25

  • Blushing Bride - Cheeky it's not. How can a girl go wrong with picture perfect, flawless skin?  This service is more than the basics of a makeup application.  You'll be primed and prepped, then I'll add a color-matched foundation ideal for your skin tone.  You get all the extras of highlighting and contouring to accent your gorgeous features plus a rosy glow of blush that will make the groom swoon with delight.  Your look is completed with a layer of waterproof sealer to make it last throughout the day and night.  ~ $50

Red Apple Lipstick

I recently received the cutest makeup package in the mail. It was from Red Apple Lipstick . The items were wrapped in “apple” green tissue paper and placed inside a small burlap-style drawstring pouch. The products included full-size versions of a lipstick, lip gloss, lip liner pencil and a sample lipstick with disposable lip brush. I grabbed the lip pencil first. This was the R-evolution lip liner and the color was Nude. Just as the name implies, it’s the perfect shade to create a neutral lip. The pencil went on creamy, without tugging or stretching the lips and the color stayed true to form. With a matte finish, it creates the perfect daytime finish. Next, was the full-size lipstick in New York, a brown based nude with orange undertones that blended superbly with the Nude pencil. I really liked the consistency of the lipstick and the smooth results it provided. It has no shimmer and is an ideal choice for the workplace. It’s a fantastic color option for day or night. The lip gloss wa...

Make Up for the DIY (Do It Yourself) Bride

If you're a "Do It Yourself" kind of girl, I may venture to guess that your wedding is no exception. Whether for financial reasons or just the hesitation of letting go, you may decide to take wedding day beauty into your own hands. Here is where I can help. Let me give you a few insights into creating a picture perfect bridal photo. There's nothing wrong with doing it yourself, if you're well-informed and excellent at applying your own makeup. I've been doing makeup for well over 20 years and even still I would never attempt to do my own makeup for my wedding day. But to those who are more adventurous, I will provide you with a few important tips. Flawless makeup begins with flawless skin. Get routine facials, wear sunscreen, avoid harmful tanning, drink lots of water, watch what you eat and take care of your skin. We can always make our skin darker with bronzers and spray-on tans but once you damage your skin with UV rays, there's no way i...

Airbrush Makeup vs. Traditional ( hand-applied ) Makeup

How to choose between airbrush makeup and traditional (hand-applied) makeup... There is a lot of hype about airbrush makeup. Having 20+ years of experience in applying makeup, and working with new and improved cosmetic products and the latest tools, let me provide you with my understanding of both airbrush and traditional makeup applications.  I do offer both airbrush and the traditional method of application and I do not charge more for either option. Why? Well, to begin with airbrushing is just another method or tool for applying makeup. I could use a sponge, a brush, my fingers or an airbrush machine. I don't consider it a special service, but rather a different technique.  With the airbrush method, small particles of the foundation are sprayed through an airbrush gun using air. These small particles are deposited on the skin and the amount of coverage is controlled by the individual applying the makeup. Airbrush offers the ability to apply a s...
