Wedding photos, your lasting memory...

I can honestly say I don't remember much about my wedding in 1989, but since I have some photos, I am reminded of a few details.  We've certainly advanced in the wedding industry, but as a bride, you can see how crucial it is to surround yourself with the best, quality vendors you can afford.  These photos are all I have to remind me of my wedding so many years ago.  I can only hope you don't cringe like I did when I stumbled upon these old photos.  

The date was October 13th, 1989. It was a Friday, yes Friday the 13th and a full moon to boot!  My wedding was doomed from the start.  Needless to say, the marriage didn't last.  But I did find these awesome, albeit silly wedding photos.  Looking back, I can only laugh and perhaps it's because the marriage is long over.  But had these photos still held the same sentimental value as wedding memories should, I would truly cry at my quirky decisions.  Where was a wedding planner when you needed one?   


The bridesmaids wore short cocktail length, strapless dresses with a bottom full of ruffles.  Hey, give me a break, it was the style back then.  But I think the zebra striped fingerless gloves really bumped it up a notch!  The groomsmen in black tuxes with, yes you see it correctly, zebra striped ascots.  Actually they were just zebra printed bandannas which were all the rage at that time.  The groom (my ex) is looking fine in his spandex zebra print tail coat.  Wow.....   

Here is a photo of me and my brother.  I didn't have access to a makeup artist, heck, I don't even think I could have found one if I tried.  And as one can obviously tell, I did my own hair.  Yikes.  The hair, gotta love the hair!  Could I tease it any higher?  Sheesh!!   
And not to be left out of the zebra craze, I had my nails painted with this cool as heck zebra design.  It seemed right at the time!  

Besides my bad decision making on apparel, another thing to point out is the photography.  All the photos that were taken in the ceremony and reception hall had white reflections going across everyone.  This was because of all the mirrors in the room.  Obviously photography has come along way since 1989, but in the end, imagine the outcome of the photos if I had hired a quality photographer.   I may have looked utterly goofy with my 80's hair, but the photos would have certainly been killer.

Red Apple Lipstick

I recently received the cutest makeup package in the mail. It was from Red Apple Lipstick . The items were wrapped in “apple” green tissue paper and placed inside a small burlap-style drawstring pouch.
