The "No Makeup" Makeup Look

I'm all about makeup! I love it, I adore it and I wear it just about every day.  However, there are some days when I really want to just go bare faced into the world but I know I still need to even out my skin tone and most definitely protect it from pollution and skin damage.  This is when I sport the "No Makeup" Makeup Look.
( /\  FYI: This is not me   /\ )
Here are a few of my tips.

To get the skin smooth and even in tone, I begin prepping with a quality moisturizer.  I adore Embryolisse and for oily skin like mine, I use Emulsion Hydra-Mat.  If you have drier skin, then I suggest Lait-Crème Concentrè.

Once I've got the moisturizer applied, I add a primer.  A primer is going to provide you with an even canvas for your foundation.  When I'm not using airbrush makeup, I swear by Peter Thomas Roth's Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel.  Another favorite is Smashbox's Photo Finish Foundation Primer.

Now onto the foundation.  My newest love is OCC TINT: TINTED MOISTURIZER from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics.  Another wonderful option is Becca's Luminous Skin Colour.  Apply the tinted moisturizer with a good, quality makeup sponge like the Beauty Blender.  Be sure to blend in the edges to alleviate any lines.  Try using a slightly dampened sponge to give staying power to the foundation.

For a healthy glow, use Becca's Beach Tint on the apple's of your cheeks.  Watermelon and Guava are two of my go to colors.
Keep your eyebrows natural looking by using a powder eyebrow color instead of liquid or pencil.  Be sure to blend the look with a brow brush.  You can also use a clean mascara wand if you don't have the brow brush.   You'll find Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo in my kit.

To stay a la natural, ditch the eyeliner and instead, use a flat liner brush and cake eyeliner and really get it in at the root of your lashes.  Keep the look light and soft.  Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eye Liner is amazing!  Apply your mascara making sure to separate the lashes and remove any clumps.

Becca's Beach Tint can do double duty as a lip color.  For a soft, subtle color, skip the lip liner and use a lip brush and apply the lip tint.

Skin without makeup is never really matte and will have a dewy appearance, so keep powdering to a minimum.

Make Up for the DIY (Do It Yourself) Bride

If you're a "Do It Yourself" kind of girl, I may venture to guess that your wedding is no exception. Whether for financial reasons or just the hesitation of letting go, you may decide to take wedding day beauty into your own hands. Here is where I can help. Let me give you a few insights into creating a picture perfect bridal photo. There's nothing wrong with doing it yourself, if you're well-informed and excellent at applying your own makeup. I've been doing makeup for well over 20 years and even still I would never attempt to do my own makeup for my wedding day. But to those who are more adventurous, I will provide you with a few important tips. Flawless makeup begins with flawless skin. Get routine facials, wear sunscreen, avoid harmful tanning, drink lots of water, watch what you eat and take care of your skin. We can always make our skin darker with bronzers and spray-on tans but once you damage your skin with UV rays, there's no way i...

Red Apple Lipstick

I recently received the cutest makeup package in the mail. It was from Red Apple Lipstick . The items were wrapped in “apple” green tissue paper and placed inside a small burlap-style drawstring pouch. The products included full-size versions of a lipstick, lip gloss, lip liner pencil and a sample lipstick with disposable lip brush. I grabbed the lip pencil first. This was the R-evolution lip liner and the color was Nude. Just as the name implies, it’s the perfect shade to create a neutral lip. The pencil went on creamy, without tugging or stretching the lips and the color stayed true to form. With a matte finish, it creates the perfect daytime finish. Next, was the full-size lipstick in New York, a brown based nude with orange undertones that blended superbly with the Nude pencil. I really liked the consistency of the lipstick and the smooth results it provided. It has no shimmer and is an ideal choice for the workplace. It’s a fantastic color option for day or night. The lip gloss wa...
