Loving Bride Artashea

Some makeup jobs go by and although I cherish each day with my clients, there are those who provide me with such enormous thanks that it truly makes me love my job. This week I have been blessed with receiving not just one, but two heartfelt, warm and touching love notes from recent brides.
I relayed the first one in an earlier blog post and today, I received a very special note on my Facebook page from Artashea. These two beautiful thank you notes, are just what I needed!!

"Has anyone ever told you that you are absolutely amazing? Well, you are! I just want to thank you again for being with me moments before I said "I do". You did much more than your job required of you. Not only did you apply flawless make-up and perfectly cover up my wrist tattoo, you unknowingly provided comfort during a very stressful time on my big day. You made me laugh, helped keep me at ease, and assured me that everything would be just fine...the way things were meant to be. Before Saturday you were a complete stranger to me which meant all you were responsible for doing was simply your job, but you're genuine, thoughtful and sincere and those characteristics allowed you to leave a lasting impression. Your professionalism sets you apart from others and you should know that you do more for people (clients) than just make-up. Thank you Stephanie Mazzeo for being you!! You are wonderful! Yours truly, Artashea."

Red Apple Lipstick

I recently received the cutest makeup package in the mail. It was from Red Apple Lipstick . The items were wrapped in “apple” green tissue paper and placed inside a small burlap-style drawstring pouch. The products included full-size versions of a lipstick, lip gloss, lip liner pencil and a sample lipstick with disposable lip brush. I grabbed the lip pencil first. This was the R-evolution lip liner and the color was Nude. Just as the name implies, it’s the perfect shade to create a neutral lip. The pencil went on creamy, without tugging or stretching the lips and the color stayed true to form. With a matte finish, it creates the perfect daytime finish. Next, was the full-size lipstick in New York, a brown based nude with orange undertones that blended superbly with the Nude pencil. I really liked the consistency of the lipstick and the smooth results it provided. It has no shimmer and is an ideal choice for the workplace. It’s a fantastic color option for day or night. The lip gloss wa...

Make Up for the DIY (Do It Yourself) Bride

If you're a "Do It Yourself" kind of girl, I may venture to guess that your wedding is no exception. Whether for financial reasons or just the hesitation of letting go, you may decide to take wedding day beauty into your own hands. Here is where I can help. Let me give you a few insights into creating a picture perfect bridal photo. There's nothing wrong with doing it yourself, if you're well-informed and excellent at applying your own makeup. I've been doing makeup for well over 20 years and even still I would never attempt to do my own makeup for my wedding day. But to those who are more adventurous, I will provide you with a few important tips. Flawless makeup begins with flawless skin. Get routine facials, wear sunscreen, avoid harmful tanning, drink lots of water, watch what you eat and take care of your skin. We can always make our skin darker with bronzers and spray-on tans but once you damage your skin with UV rays, there's no way i...

How To Cover A Tattoo For A Wedding or Event

Covering tattoos effectively for weddings can be time consuming.  It takes a lot of products, several hours and a ton of patience.  The first step is understanding that although  I will do my best to camouflage the tattoo, it will never look like you didn't get tattooed.  It will be undetectable in photos and, to those not looking for it, the tattoo will be unnoticeable in person with a professional cover application.   Using proper, quality products is a necessary step in wedding day tattoo cover, as is having reasonable expectations.  It's not a quick or easy process and, brides wanting to cover their tattoo(s) should realize they will need to pay appropriately for quality tattoo cover services for their wedding day.   before As I briefly mentioned, tattoo cover is a lengthy, precise project.  I begin by correcting areas of the tattoo using lighter and complimentary colors. Once the colors have been mut...
