MAKEUP TIP: Keeping skin fresh and flawless

It's been a crazy winter. Cold weather just about everywhere, even Florida. Have you noticed your skin beginning to dry out from the constant temperature changes? You try to apply your makeup and it ends up looking flaky and not smooth.

There are a few tips and tricks to keep your makeup looking flawless and fabulous. Start by keeping your skin healthy and soft. Be sure to treat your skin kindly and it will return the favor. Eating healthy and drinking appropriate amounts of water will show through with glowing skin.

Do not sleep in your makeup, this includes eyeliner and mascara. Remove all traces of your makeup with a quality face wash and makeup remover. I adore Cetaphil, it's perfect for sensitive skin too!
Exfoliate your skin to rid it of dead skin cells and renew that healthy glow. Philosophy's Microdelivery Peel Pads are perfect for at home exfoliating.
Your skin needs moisture to stay healthy. Just as important as what you put into your body, you need to pay attention to damage from outside elements such as the sun, smoke, fumes, dirt, pollution, etc. Creating a barrier to block out these toxins will help keep your face fresh and beautiful. Avoid tanning and always protect your skin from the sun (not just your face, but every part of your body is susceptible to damage.) Never go without something on your skin; at the very least a moisturizer with SPF. Many people feel makeup clogs the pores, but applying makeup will actually create that much needed barrier.

Embryolisse Skincare Lait-Creme Concentre is an excellent moisturizer and perfect for dry, flaky or even sunburned skin. This can be applied before any other cosmetic products.
After applying your moisturizer, you should add a makeup primer to your skin. This will help the makeup glide on smoothly and keep it looking fresh throughout the day. I adore Peter Thomas Roth Max Anti-Shine Mattifying Gel. It's an excellent choice to keep the skin shine-free and oil-free.

After you've applied your complete makeup application, you want to keep it from disappearing throughout the day. A sealing spray will help the makeup stay put. There are many makeup sealers available and I've even heard of people using hairspray (please DO NOT do this.) When I'm not airbrushing, the one I prefer is Face Finish by Face Atelier. It's alcohol free, works to hydrate your skin and can be used to freshen up your look throughout the day.

By paying attention to your skin and treating it with love and affection, you will find your skin returns the favor with a healthy, flawless glow!

Make Up for the DIY (Do It Yourself) Bride

If you're a "Do It Yourself" kind of girl, I may venture to guess that your wedding is no exception. Whether for financial reasons or just the hesitation of letting go, you may decide to take wedding day beauty into your own hands. Here is where I can help. Let me give you a few insights into creating a picture perfect bridal photo. There's nothing wrong with doing it yourself, if you're well-informed and excellent at applying your own makeup. I've been doing makeup for well over 20 years and even still I would never attempt to do my own makeup for my wedding day. But to those who are more adventurous, I will provide you with a few important tips. Flawless makeup begins with flawless skin. Get routine facials, wear sunscreen, avoid harmful tanning, drink lots of water, watch what you eat and take care of your skin. We can always make our skin darker with bronzers and spray-on tans but once you damage your skin with UV rays, there's no way i...

Red Apple Lipstick

I recently received the cutest makeup package in the mail. It was from Red Apple Lipstick . The items were wrapped in “apple” green tissue paper and placed inside a small burlap-style drawstring pouch. The products included full-size versions of a lipstick, lip gloss, lip liner pencil and a sample lipstick with disposable lip brush. I grabbed the lip pencil first. This was the R-evolution lip liner and the color was Nude. Just as the name implies, it’s the perfect shade to create a neutral lip. The pencil went on creamy, without tugging or stretching the lips and the color stayed true to form. With a matte finish, it creates the perfect daytime finish. Next, was the full-size lipstick in New York, a brown based nude with orange undertones that blended superbly with the Nude pencil. I really liked the consistency of the lipstick and the smooth results it provided. It has no shimmer and is an ideal choice for the workplace. It’s a fantastic color option for day or night. The lip gloss wa...

Planning a Destination Wedding

Destination weddings have become increasingly more common. With a touch of added romance, zesty adventure and of course the sultry GETAWAY, a destination wedding can be just that little special touch you're looking for. Planning and organizing a wedding in another city, state or country can be overwhelming and downright nerve-wracking. Trusting wedding professionals is scary enough, but depending on those not within reach can be quite intimidating.  As quoted from theKnot.com in their Destination Wedding Basics: Top 13 Destination Wedding Tips, the Knot highly suggests  to "Bring pros you trust from home to handle critical aspects such as the wedding photography, hair and makeup, and design (lighting, flowers)." There are so many things that can go wrong; no-show vendors, inferior skills, misunderstandings due to a language barrier, makeup artists not familiar with your skin type, strange and unregulated cosmetic products, and of course, fear of the unk...
